What is a "talkback"?
Talkbacks are facilitated conversations between audience members, actors and the creative team to discuss the production. Questions about the process, the craft, dramaturgy and intentions of the piece are raised and responded to by various members of the production team. It's also an opportunity for The Spot to find out more about how you personally responded to the show! Talkbacks are free events. All are welcome to attend. Talkbacks for The Sound Inside will be held after Sunday performances around 5:30pm.
THE SLOT (LOBBY / BOX OFFICE) opens 30 minutes before curtain.
Donation based concessions available pre-show/intermission.
THE SPOT (THEATRE) opens 15 minutes before curtain.

THE SOUND INSIDE was unanimously selected by The Spot Cr3w during the 22/23 Season Selection process. Pulitzer Prize finalist Adam Rapp made his broadway debut with this riveting two-hander in 2018. The play was originally commissioned by the Lincoln Center Theater. We love how they describe this beautiful and haunting show:
“Playwright Adam Rapp is a master of the small moments that define a character. He created beautiful portraits in his earlier play Red Light Winter which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2006. He has done so once again in his new play, THE SOUND INSIDE. Here we meet Yale creative writing professor Bella Baird and her brilliant, guarded, challenging student Christopher Dunn. Bella starts by addressing the audience in direct, brutally open narration. She is his professor, his mentor, alone by choice, supremely confident. She is drawn to him, somehow compelled to know him. And also there is something she wants from him. Something that she may not be able to ask. The tension of their encounters builds quietly, provocatively as the playwright drives forward to a stunning conclusion.”
